And the FiFis for Fragrance Packaging Go To . . .

At The Fragrance Foundation’s 36th annual FiFi Awards presentation, Coty, L’Oréal and Avon drew the spotlight.

Known as “the Oscars of the fragrance industry,” this year’s FiFi awards presentation lived up to its reputation, playing to a crowd of more than 900 celebrities and industry executives, and recognizing the outstanding efforts of fragrance manufacturers. Visionary designer and Coty partner Vera Wang was inducted into the foundation’s Hall of Fame.

Marc Jacob’s Daisy

A beloved garden flower, a handsome lighter, an elaborately embroidered cape—and a globally popular sports superstar—provided inspiration for the creative packaging of four phenomenally successful juices.  In total, 22 FiFis were awarded. This year’s FiFI award winners for best fragrance packaging are shown below:

Giorgio Armani’s Attitude

BEST PACKAGING—WOMEN’S PRESTIGE: Marc Jacobs Daisy, from Coty Prestige was also named Fragrance of the Year—Women’s Luxe. The weighted, clear glass bottle, designed by Wilhelm Liden and produced by Pochet, is topped with vinyl, bendable daisies. At the center of each daisy is a gold metal detail, a Marc Jacobs signature accent. Daisy’s cap was manufactured by Jackel, the pump and collar were provided by Rexam and the carton was supplied by Model Kramp.

Avon’s Christian Lacroix Rouge

BEST PACKAGING—MEN’S PRESTIGE: Giorgio Armani’s ATTITUDE, from L’Oréal, is housed in a
rectangular flacon made of lacquer-black, geometrically textured glass with a gleaming chrome closure that can be flipped open with a thumb, resembling a sleek, pocket lighter.  The perfectly symmetrical design, with straight lines and reflective surfaces, was influenced by Art Deco architecture, a favorite style of Armani’s. The color-sprayed glass flacon was produced by Gerresheimer AG.

Intimately Beckham Men

BEST PACKAGING—WOMEN’S POPULAR APPEAL: Avon’s Christian Lacroix Rouge was the designer’s first fragrance created exclusively for the direct seller. The luxurious packaging reflects the House of Lacroix’s passion for embroidery and the bold use of red and black. The motif on the bottle was inspired by the pattern on an elaborate bullfighter’s cape Lacroix once received as a gift.

BEST PACKAGING—MEN’S POPULAR APPEAL: Intimately Beckham Men was designed jointly with Intimately Beckham Women by Lutz Herrmann to convey the intimacy of the famous couple. The same design was used for both bottles, but with brown for him, pink for her and the rose gold color linking the two. The embossed carton, with the couple’s crest, picks up the color theme.
